The plant consists coal fired boiler, steam turbine and generator. The boilers can also be operated with natural gas. There are three units and were put in service in 1958. These were standby units and used only when needed. Each unit has between 40,000 to 45,000 hours on them. Hours of operation of each unit and start and stop on each unit will be provided upon request.
The units are in excellent condition and can be converted to operate at 50 Hz.
Boiler was designed and built by Combustion Engineering . The boiler produces 147,392 kg/hour steam at 700 psi and 825 deg F with a super heater. Boiler has 1709 M 2 area with 8865.3 M 2 water walls. The boiler used local lignite with heat value of about 6,000 but/Lb. Coal consumption, at this heat value was 0.75 ton/MW. Or about 1 million btu/MW.
If natural gas is used the fuel consumption would be 9 kg/s of natural gas, 9.5 kg/s fuel oil.
The A/C Generator is manufactured by Metropolitan-Vickers of UK .
Capacity: 30,000 kW
RPM 3600
P.F. 0.85
Volts 13,800
Cycle 60 (will be converted to 50. This will bring down the voltage)
Excitation voltage 180, 450 amps
Spec AIEE 602 1953
The power plant has analog control system. In order to bring it modern standard, a DCS system should be installed. The exciter and voltage regulator are functional. However a solid state exciter and voltage regulator should bring the unit to modern standard.
